The history of Qatar's development as a rich, developing state began in 1939 when the oil reserves had been discovered for the first time. As soon as the 1950s came, oil revenues were used by the government to expand and modernize Qatar’s infrastructure. In 1971, Qatar became an independent state, but a subsequent Iraq war postponed the growth of the country for several decades. In the 2000s, the sustainable development of the Emirati region enables Qatar to expand its aeronautical and aerospace industries at a fast pace. Es’hailSat is a Qatar satellite company that was established in 2010 with the purpose of enhancing Qatar’s presence in space. This communications satellite operator provides high-quality, advanced satellite services to its strategic stakeholders, including private companies and the government of Qatar and the MENA region as a whole.
Since the 2000s, Qatar has increased its space technology capabilities to a significant extent due to the growth of the Gulf area. In 2013, Qatar launched its first satellite independently to meet the needs of telecommunications and broadcasting industries. Qatar’s journey with satellites started when Es’hailSat 1 was launched into space, establishing a new era for Qatar. Indeed, the launch of the Es’hailSat 1 satellite to orbit was a significant historical event for Qatar as it showed the country’s achievements in the fields of operating satellites, media, and broadcasting. A powerful thrust that accelerated the development of Qatar's overall aeronautical and aerospace development was the signing of the 2015 agreement between the CEO of well-known French aerospace corporation Dassault, Eric Trappier, and Qatari defense officials in the capital city of Qatar, Doha. As a result, Qatar gained $7 billion for the advancement of aerospace at the national level. This large investment in Qatar’s aerospace industry has had a positive effect on the development of the national economy and infrastructure. Qatar is a fast-developing country that is ready for aerospace and aeronautics initiatives to improve the well-being of all Qataris. |
